Institute for Public Policy Research— Centre for Asset-Based Welfare
The Centre for Asset-Based Welfare at IPPR is the UK's foremost research center for the study of how savings and assets affect welfare. The Centre’s aim is to undertake and commission research into why and how this happens, and develop policies to bring the benefits of asset ownership to all. The Centre was the first to propose Child Trust Funds, which have since been adopted by the government and rolled out to every new baby in Britain. The Centre’s research agenda includes:
- expanding Child Trust Funds;
- financial education and inclusion;
- policies that build assets through homeownership and savings (including the Saving Gateway).
