"Savings Performance among Rural Households in Sub-Saharan Africa: The Effects of Gender"

This article by Gina A. N. Chowa of the George Warren Brown School of Social Work "investigates savings performance among participants in a matched savings program in Uganda, modeled after the Individual Development Accounts (IDAs) in the United States. Comparison of savings behavior by gender, level of education, marital status, and type of work was performed. Findings show that both women and men are saving successfully. However, women are saving better than their male counterparts across levels of education, marital status, and type of work," according to the abstract.
